HELLO, i'm Jammie N. Phillips

Jammie Phillips has worked in the field of Music Education for 15 years. She is currently Director of Bands at McKee Middle School in Montgomery, Alabama. New to the state of Alabama, Phillips taught several years in the Atlanta metro area in Georgia where her bands were consecutively superior rated for several years. Mrs. Phillips is a 2022 Golden Anniversary Winner for National Flute Association, 2019 40 under 40 honoree for Bethune-Cookman University, 2017 Teacher of the Year Eddie White Middle, Phillips has built a career delivering consecutive Superior & Excellent ratings for her band programs in Georgia and now Alabama. She is a professional Flutist and Arts advocate. She is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University with a B.A. in Music Education, and an M.S. & Ed.S in Education & Administrator Leadership from Walden University. Phillips is looking forward to making a difference for colleagues that are band directors that graduated from Historically Black Colleges and Universities that often face a different set of challenges. She was inspired to go into Music Education as early as 10th grade. “I noticed that all of my band directors were men or white women. I wanted to be one of few black women in the profession to encourage more black girls to become successful band directors and musicians.”
